CTE Contractors were appointed to carry out a full electrical refurbishment of an existing property, transforming it into a modern, high-spec living space tailored to the client’s lifestyle.
The project involved a complete rewire alongside a carefully considered lighting and electrical design, integrating modern features such as mood lighting, bespoke fixtures, and audio visual systems. The aim was not only to upgrade the installation but to completely redefine how each space within the home was experienced.
The existing property was dated both electrically and aesthetically, requiring a full upgrade to meet current standards while also aligning with the client’s vision for a modern, high home.
Each room had its own purpose and personality, meaning the design could not be uniform throughout. Instead, the challenge was to create a cohesive flow across the property, while still delivering unique features in key areas such as the kitchen, lounge, and bedrooms.
Balancing practical electrical requirements with high-end design was central to the project, ensuring that the installation was not only safe and compliant but also visually impressive and enjoyable to live in.
The kitchen and dining space formed the heart of the home and were treated as a key feature area within the project. A full rewire was carried out to support the new layout, ensuring all appliances were safely integrated into a dedicated circuit
Lighting played a major role in shaping the atmosphere of the space. Discreet LED strip lighting was installed beneath the kitchen units, providing a soft ambient glow that could be dimmed to suit different moods, from everyday use to evening entertaining. This was complemented by dimmable downlights throughout, allowing the client to fully control the brightness of the space.
A pop-up socket was installed within the island, maintaining clean lines while still offering practical access to power when needed. Above the dining area, decorative pendant lighting was introduced to create a focal point, alongside a unique feature a light-up spinning glitter ball with an integrated speaker system, designed to bring a fun, social element into the space.
To complete the area, a bespoke media wall was installed, incorporating a built-in TV and electric fire, giving the room both a functional and visually striking centrepiece.
The hallway was designed to provide a clean and modern introduction to the home. LED downlights were installed to give a consistent and welcoming level of illumination, while a fully compliant smoke detection system was integrated to meet current regulations.
Although simple in appearance, this space was important in setting the tone for the rest of the property, combining safety with a contemporary finish. Bathrooms
In the bathrooms, the focus was on combining practicality with subtle design features. LED downlights provide clear, functional lighting, while carefully positioned ventilation systems ensure effective moisture control and long-term durability.
To elevate the finish, LED strip lighting was incorporated into alcoves and storage areas, adding depth and a soft ambient glow. Mirror lighting was also installed, improving usability while contributing to the overall modern aesthetic of the space.
The lounge was designed as a more relaxed, intimate environment, a space for the client to unwind away from the main living areas.
Dimmable LED downlights allow the lighting to be softened in the evenings, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere. A wall-mounted TV with fully integrated wiring, including Sky and media connections, ensures a clean, uncluttered finish while delivering a high-quality entertainment setup.
The overall feel of the room is one of simplicity and comfort, with the lighting and layout working together to create a true “chill out” space.
The bedrooms continue the high standard seen throughout the property, with LED downlights providing general illumination and decorative pendant lighting adding both style and functionality for bedside reading.
Particular attention was given to the walk-in wardrobe and dressing area, where lighting was designed to be both practical and visually appealing. The result is a space that feels organised, well lit, and in keeping with the overall premium finish of the home.
The utility room was designed with practicality and efficiency in mind, ensuring it could handle daily use while maintaining the same high standard seen throughout the home.
Dedicated circuits were installed for appliances such as the washing machine and dryer, ensuring safe and reliable operation. LED lighting was carefully positioned to provide clear visibility across work surfaces, making the space functional and easy to use.
Additional sockets were installed to accommodate future appliances and flexibility, while the layout was designed to keep cabling neat and accessible. The result is a clean, organised and highly functional utility space that complements the overall refurbishment.
Although primarily used for storage, the loft was upgraded with dedicated lighting to improve accessibility and usability, ensuring no area of the home was overlooked in the refurbishment.
Externally, the property was enhanced with the installation of an EV charge point, future-proofing the home for electric vehicle use.
